The Background: Only the TRUE old school Househeads are familiar with the song Disco Circus by Martin Circus by name, although everyone who ever danced in Detroit to a 4/4 beat KNOWS it when they hear it. The record was released in 1979 on Prelude Records and is a floor filler for any Detroit DJ that plays it. Although given little credit, if there was ONE song that had an big influence on Detroit’s music scene, this would be it. When several local promoters decided to have a ultimate party to usher in Spring, it could only be called The Martin Circus Xperience.
“Back in the day a song called “Disco Circus” was mixed with everything. It was a staple during the 80s dance music scene, While it was the only American hit from the French band Martin Circus, when you hear this tune you will remember it, even though you might not know the name.”
- Bruce Bailey
