The 5th Annual SCP Backpack Drive and Detroit House Music Picnic happens on Sat. July 24 and Sun. July 25th - Shed 19 - Belle Isle Park in Detroit and features an All Star DJ Line up of Metro Detroit’s Best DJ along with a few guest DJs from NYC and Chicago.

Join us on Thursday, February 25th as Detroit House and Techno DJs, Artists, Musicians, and Promoters come together for one night to help with the horrible tragedy that happened in Haiti last Month. The Haiti Earthquake Relief Effort is ongoing so 100% of the Proceeds from this event will be donated to the American Red Cross Haiti Relief.

“Last month after the tragedy, many people donated $5 or 10 by Cell phone text to help and that was beautiful… Economic times are tough at home here in Detroit. Now for that same price tag - you can come out and hear 4 World Class DJs playing banging Beats, dance and hang with friends but most importantly - help the American Red Cross Haiti Relief effort”

The first XM party of 2010 spotlights one of Detroit’s Best kept Secrets - DJ Mike Grant. Spinning since the early 80’s, Mike’s musical knowledge and Record collection goes deep. Noted in his Bio - Grant is the only Detroit DJ who plays complete deep house/house and techno sets as well as a mixture. Back in the 80’s, he was resident DJ at Detroit’s Studio 54, along with being a regular Radio mixer on Street Beat, plus doing guest mixes on WGPR’s popular TV Show The Scene and for the Legendary Electrifying Mojo. Grant also held down a Guest Residency at Berlin’s legendary Nightclub Tresor.

In addition to rare recent Detroit DJ appearances, DJ Mike Grant has been focusing on his own Record Label - Moods & Grooves.

Many know Stacey Pullen as a Recording Artist from the Second Wave of Detroit Techno with his releases on Derrick May’s Fragile Records, KMS, and his own imprint Black Flag Records. Others know him from his multiple years spinning in Europe as a world renowned DJ or when he brings it home with his special Parties that happen here in Detroit every year.

Kevin Saunderson figures its only natural to have Stacey spin this weeks XM Party given Pullen’s creativity as a recording artist and his ability to rock a crowd as a DJ, a perfect fit for XM.

DJ MINX

DJ Minx remembers being a “club kid” at the world famous Music Institute. That experience made her aspire to spin music and “back in the day”, she went on to one of the few successful female DJ’s in Detroit and open doors and paved the way for others to follow. She runs a successful Record label (Women On Wax) and hangs with a hot collective of individuals under Gruv Detroit.

She was the voice of the Deep Space Radio show on WGPR years ago, and still gives up a weekly dose of Deep House on her Internet radio show on Handz On Radio every Tuesday with her “Queen Beats” show. Come check out DJ Minx along with Kevin Saunderson & Stacey Pullen for XM @ ReLiv - this Thursday….
